RAMPANT East Kilbride cruised through to the third round of the South Challenge Cup with a 13 goal hammering of South League side Creetown.

Billy Ogilvie’s Lowland League hotshots raced into a six goal lead by the interval at the K Park Stadium.

The onslaught continued after the break with a further seven strikes finding the net against the Dumfriesshire minnows.

Ogilvie said: “It was thoroughly professional performance from the team.

“When you go four or five up it’s easy to just knock the ball about but we didn’t do that, we kept playing at a high tempo and we were rewarded with the goals.

“Credit to Creetown, it was a tough afternoon for them but they stuck to the task.”

Former Arbroath striker Jack Smith scored four while Martin McBride grabbed his first hat-trick for the club.

Bernard Coll, Jack Hastings, Sean Winter, Anton Brady and Liam Gormley were East Kilbride’s other scorers.

Spartans also made sure there were no shocks at Ainslie Park as they swept aside East of Scotland team Heriot-Watt University.

Teenager Aaron Murrell scored a double for Dougie Samuels’ team with Eddie Malone, Keith Murray and Robbie Ross also netting in the 5-2 win.

There was an upset at Peffermill where high-flying Stirling University were beaten by the Students from Edinburgh University.

Bruce Scott, Jack Guthrie, Tim Rawlinson and Calum Murray all scored for Dorian Ogurno’s team in the 4-1 victory.

Threave Rovers also reached the third round of the Cup with a comfortable 4-1 win over South of Scotland team St Cuthbert’s Wanderers at Meadow Park.

On Friday evening Cumbernauld Colts required extra time to see off Leith Athletic 2-1 at Broadwood.

All other second round matches were postponed due to the weather.
