FAIRYDEAN Rovers manager Steven Noble hopes Selkirk will leave empty handed when they come first-footing on Saturday.

Both teams have endured a poor run throughout November and December.

And the Netherdale boss admits the pressure is mounting on both camps ahead of the derby.

Noble told us: "This is a massive game for both clubs as we've been on bad runs and a win is important to end that.

"We've had a few injury problems and I think that has cost us but we will be stronger for the Selkirk match than we have been in recent weeks."

Amongst the returning Gala players is energetic full back Scott Main.

But Noble will still be without Billy Miller, Ross Aitchison and Daryl Burdett for Saturday's clash.

Selkirk are currently embroiled in a battle with Spartans for the services of Ross Gray.

The former Berwick Rangers midfielder is out of contract on New Year's Day - and the Ainslie Park club is at the front of the queue to sign him.

Garry O'Connor will also be without the suspended Jordan Allan, who is leaving Yarrow Park for Derry City later in January.

But coach Scott Dowie believes a few new faces could be included in Saturday's squad. He said: "We want to keep Ross but the decision will rest with him.

"We have a friendly this week with Haddington and that will give us the chance to play three or four new players. We have a defender, a midfielder and another striker coming in to have a look at... there's every chance there will be a few new faces in the Selkirk team for the Gala game."

Phil Addison returns to the Selkirk squad after recovering from illness.

Former Dundee United star David Robertson will face a fitness test this week after suffering a groin injury against Civil Service.

And it is understood his former Tannadice team-mate Garry Kenneth is likely to play in the midweek friendly.

Saturday's match on the 3G at Netherdale kicks off at 3pm.
