FORMER Scotland star Garry O'Connor has agreed a three-year deal to stay at Yarrow Park.

The 34-year-old player-manager took over last season from Steve Forrest.

Despite a shaky start to his managerial career, which sees Selkirk sitting second bottom of the Lowland League, the club's committee showed unanimous backing for the 16-times capped striker.

Chairman Ross Anderson told us: "Recent results haven't been great but we have faith in what Garry is trying to achieve at Selkirk.

"We are confident he's the right man to take this club forward.

"Garry has ambitious plans for the team and we are buying into that."

Since his appointment O'Connor has attracted Scotland's stars like David Robertson and Garry Kenneth to Yarrow Park.

And he's also brought in exciting youngsters, including Ross King, Dale Baxter and Andrew Flemming.

Anderson added: "We are looking for stability and a squad that can compete towards the top of the Lowland League.

"We believe Garry will bring that."

It is understood Selkirk are in the process of agreeing a major three-year sponsorship deal.

And an announcement will be made before Christmas.
