THE rain didn’t damped spirits as over 100 young players enjoyed the annual Gala Fairydean Rovers Junior presentation Day at Netherdale last Saturday.

The youngsters enjoyed a series of fun drills and exercises on the 3G pitch before presentations were made to each age-group in the stand. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was also on hand to provide free CPR training to players, coaches and parents.

Chair of the Junior section Garry Fraser thanked everyone for their attendance and efforts over the past 12 months and made particular mention of the volunteer coaches and administration assistants who ensure that the club is able to provide quality football coaching to every primary school age-group in the town.

The former Gala Fairydean manager told us: "I am honoured to be Chairman of the Junior section…Gala Fairydean Rovers is a great football club that is on the way up.

"We are not a boastful Club, but we have real strengths, great people, strong values – and a proud history.

"We are a young, developing club with the proven experience of some very special individuals…this is a club where the heart is and there is no greater heart than that of our Football Club."

He also thanked the club’s sponsors for their support, especially Netherdale based security company SPG who have been the club’s main sponsor for over a decade.

He also thanked Ostle Tyres, Schofields, Gala Glass and Glazing, borders.co.uk, Tops Carwash and Sng gas for their sponsorship of strips and Bookers, Tesco, Dalgetty Bakers the Trophy Guy for the donations they supplied on the day.
