CHILDREN across the Borders are in for a treat during the summer holidays, thanks to another jam-packed sports and physical activity programme.
Scottish Borders Council's sports development unit and the active schools teams have again produced a range of sports and activities for youngsters to choose from during the holidays, from June 27 to August 15.
Courses this year include athletics, activity clubs, badminton, basketball, cricket, dance, cheerleading, disability sports, gymnastics, hockey, kid"s clubs, mountain biking, rugby, football, tennis and watersports.
Councillor Graham Garvie, Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Community Education, said: 'The aim of the programme is to provide opportunities for children of all ages to keep fit and active during the summer holidays.
'Whether it is water-sports, dance, football or badminton, there will be plenty of activities to choose from. They will all be provided by qualified coaches who have been selected for their experience and enthusiasm when working with youngsters.
'Following last year"s magnificent turnout of more than 1000 youngsters and this year"s Easter programme, which also attracted more than 1000 participants, I am confident that youngsters can"t wait to book up and get ready for another active summer.'
Pupils should have received the programme brochure at school. It can also be downloaded from www.scotborders.gov.uk
