PAUL BROWNLEE began his new job last night as manager of Selkirk Football Club.
The 43-year-old was appointed Yarrow Park boss last week following the shock resignation of Fraser Lothian.
Brownlee has been coaching under Lothian for the past two years.
And he jumped at the opportunity to lead the club he joined as a 16-year-old.
He told the Border Telegraph: 'There are a lot of players at the club and quite a few who are coming back that can play at East of Scotland level.
'Apart from a spell at Berwick Rangers this is the club I"ve always been part of and I couldn"t turn down an opportunity like this.'
Talks are continuing with last season"s captain John Waldie to continue playing for another season.
But several of Selkirk"s leading players, including Craig Livingstone, Craig Tyson and Alan Jackson, have signed for other clubs.
Craig Wilson, Gary McShane, Euan Pritchard and Darren Munro all return to the squad following breaks over the past couple of seasons.
Brownlee added: 'We have several old players returning and there"s a couple of players from Penicuik coming down to try out. I can"t wait for the season to start.'
Former Hawick Royal Albert manager David Main returns to Selkirk to assist Brownlee while former captain Ian Potts will adopt a player-coach role.
** Former Gala Fairydean players Neil Collins and Ian Blackwood have taken over as managers of Gala Rovers. The duo replaces Bruce Noble and Keith Bell who stood down after two seasons in charge.
** Gala Fairydean coach Mark Lamb has departed Netherdale to take over as manager of Spartans" East of Scotland side. The Edinburgh club are hoping to gain entry to the Scottish Football League this week.
Lamb said: 'I deeply regret having to leave Gala after just arriving but I couldn"t turn down Spartans.'
