Fixtures announced for new season

AMATEUR footballers across the Borders are warming up for the kick-off to the new season next weekend.

The Border Embroideries Border Amateur League fixtures for the new 2008-09 season were published this week.

And to celebrate the Border Telegraph is publishing them in full on our website - www.bordertelegraph.com/sport

As well as the league fixtures, dates have also been announced for cup games.

And strict guidelines are in force to ensure all games go ahead.

League secretary Wilma Moscrop said: 'If a game is cancelled the home team must inform the match secretary, opponents and referee as soon as possible.

'They should not inform their team they have no game until the possibility of a rescheduled fixture has been investigated.

'Failure to adhere to this will result in a fine being imposed.

'The only exception to this is when a game is postponed because there is no referee available, then the match secretary will inform both teams.'

All league kick off times will be as follows:- November, December and January 2p.m. All other times 2.30p.m. Evening kick off times will be 6.15p.m. (This is a guide time - or as mutually agreed by both teams).

All cup ties will kick off half an hour earlier to allow for extra time to be played if required. (ie 1.30p.m. and 2p.m.)
