SCOTTISH Borders Council"s inflatable pitch was in Hawick last week as part of a street football event for local youngsters.
The free event, organised by the Council"s football development unit, attracted more than 30 boys and girls from P6 to S4.
The youngsters enjoyed non stop four-a-side and five-a-side games in the Common Haugh area of the town, supervised by Scottish Football Association (SFA) staff.
Football development officer, Dougie Anderson, was delighted with the turnout: 'We were pleased that so many boys and girls came along and joined in the fun. Street football is a fairly new initiative here in the Borders, but one that we are trying to encourage because it gives youngsters the chance to run about, keep fit and have fun.'
Those who took part had the added thrill of being the first to play on the inflatable pitch"s new artificial surface.
Funding for the event came from Cash Back for Communities, through Proceeds of Criminal Activity (POCA) - a programme run nationally through the SFA.
