SELKIRK return to the field of their Scottish Cup nightmares on Saturday - hoping to give Dalbeattie boss Gordon Holt some sleepless nights.

Paul Brownlee"s side were thumped 6-0 at Islecroft Stadium in the second round of the cup.

But a shock home defeat by Easthouses, losing two goals in the last two minutes, last Saturday has left league leaders Star reeling.

And Selkirk hope to rub salt into the wounds by taking at least a point.

Souters co-boss Davie Main said: 'The Easthouses score shows that anything can happen. Nobody fancied them to go down there and get anything.

'This is a really open league where there is the chance of points wherever you go.

'Dalbeattie will be the favourites after the cup game but I think it will be a lot closer.'

Selkirk are expected to sign a new striker before the trip to the Solway coast and will be further boosted by the return of captain John Waldie.

But teenager Danny Smith will be out for at least a month with torn ligaments and Craig Wilson will undergo a late fitness test.

Gala Fairydean face unbeaten Tynecastle without four key players.

Grant Gass, Scott Mackenzie, Gavin Watson and Jay Wilson are all suspended for the must-win match.

And bosses Bryan Templeton and Derek Hancock are busily searching for a stand-in keeper as reserve stopper Chris Anderson has work commitments.

Hancock told us: 'With Gavin suspended and Chris working we"re struggling to find someone to come in.

'Tynecastle are always hard games and I expect this one to be even tougher with so many of our players missing.'

Gala Rovers players Graham Nicol and Bob Noble have both been drafted into the Fairydean ranks for the arrival of Tynecastle.

The game at Netherdale and Selkirk"s match at Dalbeattie Star both kick off at 2pm.
