THE first round of the Coca Cola 7s tournament kicks off in the Borders next week.

The tournament, which is run by the Scottish Schools Football Association (SSFA) and Coca-Cola, has grown into the largest schools' football tournament in Scotland.

It is free to enter for all Scottish secondary schools. This year, a total of 21 boys" and girls" teams from eight secondary schools in the Borders will be taking part in the event which kicks off at Tweedbank Sports Complex on Monday.

The focus of the 7s is not about winning but enjoying the game.

There will be four boys" and four girls" teams qualifying from the Scottish Borders who will compete in the second round to be held at a senior ground in the South East region.

The tournament culminates in a grand final event at Lesser Hampden Park and every player receives skills training from ex-professional managers and players.
