SCOTTISH Borders Council (SBC), in partnership with the Scottish Football Association (SFA), has launched a jam-packed football development programme for 2009.
The programme, which aims to provide opportunities for anyone to take part in football - no matter their age, gender, race or ability, is now available online or by request from the Sports Development Unit in Galashiels.
The brochure contains a comprehensive annual development programme of initiatives, events, tournaments and courses for young people and adults planned for the coming year.
SBC"s senior football development officer Dougie Anderson explains the importance of the programme in the Borders: 'This booklet is a vital resource for anyone interested in football in the Borders from pre-school age right through to adults.
"As well as having our Easter, summer and October holiday programme information, it also contains details on all of our annual festivals and tournaments as well as information on our coaching education programmes.'
Details included in the programme are; mini-kickers, football centres, school holiday courses, the schools programme, Scottish Borders Junior FA, development squads, midnight leagues, soccer one, coach education, disability, adult football and club development programmes.
Executive member for sport, culture and community education Councillor Graham Garvie added: 'Our football development officers in partnership with the SFA have once again produced a fantastic annual programme for budding young footballers in the Borders.
"Whether it be to improve your skills, or just take part in some fast paced games of football - there is something for everyone and I look forward to seeing many people take part in the wide range of activities over the coming months.'
