A NEW lunch-time football league kicks-off in Galashiels next month.
And sports chiefs are encouraging people of any age or ability to enter teams into the five-a-side league which starts on February 10.
It is aimed at getting workers active during their lunch break and will be played every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 12noon and 1pm.
The winners will be presented with a trophy donated from The Trophy Guy in Galashiels.
Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Community Education, Councillor Graham Garvie said: 'This new initiative provides a fantastic opportunity for people to get together with their friends and colleagues and get active during their lunch break.
'The aim of the tournament is not to focus on the winning but to have fun and keep fit so I hope plenty of people sign up and get ready for lots of fun football action.'
The League is open to both male and female players of any age. Teams can be all male, all female or mixed. The cost is £25 per team.
Application forms can be downloaded from www.sportborders.org.uk/news.html <http://www.sportborders.org.uk/news.html> or by calling the Queens Leisure Centre on 01896 753322.
