CLASSY Craig Livingstone snatched a late wonder strike to keep Selkirk in the East Premier League.

The 23-year-old found the top corner from 25 yards in the closing minutes for the Yarrow Park side to beat Lothian Thistle 1-0.

The three points help Selkirk overtake Easthouses Lily, who crashed 3-0 to Spartans in their final game of the season.

Selkirk manager Paul Brownlee said: 'We were made to sweat but the goal was worth waiting for.

'Everyone at the club is delighted to still be in the Premier League next season.'

Keith McLeod scored a double and David Etale also found the net as Spartans beat relegated Lily at City Park.

Scott Borthwick was red carded in the second half for Easthouses.

Micky Lawson"s side remain on top on goal difference after Dalbeattie Star also recorded a 3-0 win over Coldstream at Islecroft Stadium. Lawson said: 'We still have to go to Dalbeattie in a fortnight and we will have to wait until then to see who will win the league. It"s close.'

Juan Carlos and Jordan Hall both scored hat-tricks as Edinburgh City beat bottom side Peebles 7-1 at Whitestone Park.

Kevin Morrison also found the net from the penalty spot for City.

Tynecastle secured promotion from the First Division with a 1-0 win over Leith Athletic at Muirhouse.

Gretna 2008 moved a step closer to joining them with a 5-0 win over second-placed Civil Service Strollers at Raydale Park.

Eyemouth United beat lowly Ormiston 4-1 at Warner Park, but Stirling University"s game with Kelso United will require a replay after referee Graham Chambers abandoned the match after 25 minutes for heavy rain.

In the League Cup, a Stuart Miller overhead kick on 88 minutes took Preston Athletic into the semi-finals with a 1-0 win over Edinburgh University.
