PREMIER league strugglers Coldstream have signed Hibs defender Ian Murray.
But the Scottish internationalist, who is currently in contract talks at Easter Road, is only arriving at Home Park in a coaching capacity to help his mate Mark Lamb.
Coldstream are two points adrift at the foot of the table with only six matches left. Following talks on Thursday Lamb, who was acting as caretaker manager, agreed to stay with the club until the end of the season. And his first signing has been the six-times capped Murray.
The 28-year-old Hibs defender told the Border Telegraph: "Coaching and management is something I'd like to get into one day and this will give me a taste of it. I'm also putting something back into the game.
"Obviously my own club will come first but I'm free most evenings and will make it along to training at least once a week. If I'm free on a Saturday I'll also try to get to a game.
"I don't know much about Coldstream but I have worked with Mark before and we are good friends."
Coldstream have played more games than everyone else in the East of Scotland Premier Division. But Lamb hopes his side can catch other strugglers Civil Service Strollers and Selkirk with his remaining matches.
The former Spartans and Peebles boss said: "I'm delighted Ian has joined us and I'm hoping to bring in one or two new players as well as we try to avoid relegation.
"It's not over until mathematically we can't stay up any more. If we can win one or two of our next few games you just never know.
"Coldstream has the potential to become one of the big clubs in East of Scotland football, but we must stay up."
The Streamers are due to host Edinburgh City next Saturday at Home Park.
