FORMER Celtic FC and Scotland football star John Collins returned to his former high school of Galashiels Academy this week to encourage S1 pupils to get more active, keep a balanced diet and enjoy an all-round healthy lifestyle.
The former Hibernian, Celtic, Monaco, Everton and Fulham midfielder, who in 1990 became Celtic FC's first £1 million player and was capped 58 times for Scotland, is among 24 role models from Scottish sport supporting the innovative Champions in Schools (CiS) programme.
CiS is a partnership between the business-led charity, Winning Scotland Foundation and the Active Schools Network in the Scottish Borders with the support of Scotch Beef (Quality Meat Scotland). The Foundation has a vision to encourage more Scots to adopt a positive winning attitude in sport and life.
