Selkirk sack manager following one win in 21 league games
STRUGGLING Selkirk have replaced manager Bryan Templeton with former Cowdenbeath striker Mike McKinnon.
Templeton and his coaching team had only won one of their previous 21 league matches - the victory being on the final day of last season against Tynecastle to stay in the East Premier Division.
The former Gala Fairydean boss took over in January after the departure of Paul Brownlee from the Yarrow Park dugout.
But a run of poor results saw the pressure build - and with only one substitute on the bench for Saturday's crucial league clash at Civil Service Strollers an emergency committee meeting was held back in the clubrooms.
Templeton was told of their decision at Monday evening's training. A statement issued by the club said: "The players both liked and respected Bryan but the results speak for themselves. It was a difficult decision for everyone involved but we feel the club needs someone new to move things forward.
"We wish Bryan all the best in the future and thank him for all of his hard work and effort since joining us."
McKinnon will be assisted by former Selkirk player Aaron Biggs. And their first game in charge will be against Vale of Leithen in the South Challenge Cup third round at Victoria Park on Saturday.
Neither McKinnon or Biggs were available for comment before we went to press.
