The two Lowland League clubs were drawn together last week in Glasgow.

And Noble believes the home advantage will give Mark Lamb’s team the upper hand.

Steven told us: “I’m pleased that we don’t have far to travel but ideally we would have had a home tie.

“Vale are a good team and Mark has brought in a lot of good players over the summer.

“They will certainly be favourites but we will go there and try to get a result.” Noble’s team have held both Dunfermline Athletic and Bonnyrigg Rose to draws over the past week.

And many of his own new signings have shown up well in the friendlies - including Ashley Langford, Daryl Devlin and Darran Thompson.

Steven added: “I am happy with the way we are playing although there is always room for improvement.” Selkirk are already in the First Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup having gained SFA Entry Level creditation last season.

The tie between Gala and Vale will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, August 16.
