FORMER Scotland striker Garry O'Connor watched his new team mates record an impressive pre-season victory against a young Hibs side at Yarrow Park on Wednesday evening.

But the 31-year-old declined to talk about his new career with the Lowland League side as he has still to put pen to pape and sign a deal.

Instead O'Connor watched the action through the glass window of the clubhouse as Selkirk pulled off a comfortable 3-1 win.

Vice-chairman Ross Anderson said: "Garry is signing and everything will be complete by the weekend before the first league match.

"The connection is through our management team Steve Forrest and Paul Doig who know him through their community coach links at Hibs.

"I am sure he will be a great asset to the club."

Twenty one-year-old French striker Yanis Camgari gave the Souters a first half lead with the opener in the 35th minute.

Hibs' winger Max Todd saw his penalty brilliantly saved by Anthony Bal before Ollie Shaw levelled for the visitors in the 55th minute.

However ex-Hibee Phil Addison put Selkirk in front on the hour mark and Seran Guiney sealed the win 20 minutes from time by heading home a corner.

O'Connor - capped 16 times for his country and formerly of Hibs, Lokomotiv Moscow, Bimringham City, Barsley and Morton - is understood to be signing for Selkirk today (Friday) and registered in time for the club's opening Lowland League match against threateve Rovers at Yarrow Park on Saturday.
