The Yarrow Park gaffer signed former Junior international player Paul Tansey last week.

And he is now in advanced negotiations with a former USA soccer graduate to join his Lowland League squad.

Forrest, whose team face Vale of Leithen in the league on Saturday, told the Border Telegraph: “We hope to have the boy signed ahead of the Vale game.

“He had a bright future in America but decided it wasn’t for him and came back to Scotland - a few clubs are chasing him but he seems to want to come to Selkirk.

“Everyone we are signing will be with us until the end of next season. Apart from one or two of the current squad, they are also signed up till the end of 2015/16.” Tansey made his debut for Selkirk in a 4-2 friendly win over Haddington on Saturday after the Lowland League clash with East Kilbride fell victim to the weather.

Although the 29-year-old former Raith Rovers and East Fife player didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet, he did have an influence.

Forrest added: “Paul hit the woodwork twice and was busy throughout the Haddington match.

“I’m delighted to have him for the next 18 months and I’m confident he’ll be a big player for us.

“Paul is an international player in his own right and brings experience as well as quality.

“Everyone is desperate for Saturday’s game with Vale to be on - our pitch is looking good and we will do everything we can for the game to go ahead.”
