A new partnership deal between Selkirk and Hibernian has recently been agreed.

As well as the Easter Road club holding its kids coaching camps at Yarrow Park, they are also hoping to launch walking football for the over 50s.

Tom Elliot, head of community coaching with Hibernian, told the Border Telegraph: “Walking football has been going for a number of years at Hibernian. We have a good team of players aged in their 50s and 60s, who regularly play other teams from across Scotland.

“They will be coming down to Yarrow Park to help us launch walking football in the Borders.

“It is a great form of exercise and one we hope will take off in Selkirk.” Over the coming weeks Selkirk FC will advertise their walking football taster sessions.

Club chairman Ross Anderson said: “We would encourage anyone who would like a bit of exercise and enjoys a kick about to come and try walking football.

“We don’t expect to be beating Hibernian straight away but we hope to get enough players for a few teams to start playing regularly.

“We don’t care what age you are - if you want to play walking football, get yourselves down.” For further details on walking football contact 01750 778147 or selkirkfootballclub@hotmail.co.uk.
