IN order to mark Gala Fairydean Rovers FC's inaugural games at home in the Scottish Lowland League the club has produced a 20 page full colour souvenir programme.

The games also mark the new club's competitive debut at Netherdale following a series of pre-season fixtures at the Gala ground.

The special commemorative edition of the programme contains messages of congratulations and support from a number of luminaries from both football and politics.

SFA Chairman Stewart Regan is joined by David Baxter, the Secretary of the newly formed Scottish Lowland League, in wishing the new club well.

Local footballing great John Collins talks of his delight of the developments of recent months down at Netherdale whilst Gala Footballing Institution and Honorary President of the new club, Jim "Jabo" Gray adds his voice of congratulations.

Secretary of State for Scotland the Rt Honourable Michael Moore and MSP Christine Grahame join the local councillors in talking of their delight at the progress made on and off the field whilst offering their support and best wishes for the future.

Collins said: "What great news for the town of Galashiels, one club united with everybody moving same direction for the good of the town. It's great to see the local community come together with fantastic facilities and a great opportunity to move forward with a pathway from the youth setup right through to the Lowland League team.

"The town has craved top flight football in the past and now it's finally happened, a clear pathway into the SFL leagues. I think it's important to set the bar as high as possible, you just have to look at the hard work and success of Inverness Caledonian Thistle who amalgamated for the good of the town and not forgetting Ross County with only around 4000 people living in the town.

"It's great to see that Gala Fairydean Rovers play 'Total Football' the way the game should be played and I think this will attract more players and admirers. It will take time and patience but most the important thing is the club philosophy from grass roots through to the first team as they try and play the game in the correct way."

The double edition for the clubs' opening two league fixtures also features messages from Drew Kelly of BSLT, Club Chair Kevin Temple and manager Steven Noble. In addition former Gala Fairydean Secretary John Clayton offers his view as a supporter whilst local journalist and Gala Fairydean Rovers Match-day Secretary Rob Fairburn provides an interesting analysis of the history of football in the town of Galashiels.

Demand is sure to be high for the unique publication with programme dealers and collectors already placing advance orders with the club.

The full colour programme will available at the turnstiles, the clubrooms and from official vendors at Netherdale on Tuesday evening for the game v Edinburgh City and on Saturday for the home tie against Dalbeattie Star.
