GALA boss Steven Noble admits his side have one of the easier Scottish Cup draws.

But the Netherdale gaffer has warned against complacency when his team welcome Glasgow University next month.

The students from Glasgow were knocked out of the national competition last year by Selkirk on their own patch.

And it will be the Fairydean Rovers who will go into the September 14 first-round tie as hot favourites.

Noble told us: "We are delighted to have a home tie and Glasgow University aren't one of the strongest teams but we will still need to be at our very best to go through." Selkirk have a slightly trickier hurdle to overcome if they are to reach the lucrative second round.

Mike McKinnon's team entertain Turriff United at Yarrow Park.

The northern team reached last season's fourth round, after beating Burntisland, Civil Service and Buckie Thistle. McKinnon said: "It will be difficult but we will fancy our chances against anyone when we are at home." Hawick Royal Albert have also been handed a home tie - against St Cuthbert's Wanderers. And Coldstream will welcome Wick Academy to Home Park on the same afternoon.

But Vale of Leithen face a 500-mile round trip to take on Brora Rangers. Assistant manager Fraser Ogilvie said: "Brora are going to be a good team with a few former professionals in their ranks. There's no getting away from it - we'll be the underdogs."
