Calderglen High School 1 v 0 Selkirk High School

SELKIRK HIGH School came back to earth with a bump after they were narrowly beaten in the final of the RAF sponsored Under 15 Scottish Shield on Saturday 17 May.

The exciting, and evenly matched game between Selkirk and East Kilbride's Calderglen High School was part of the Scottish FA's National Day for Girls' and Women's Football at McDiarmid Park, Perth.

The first half was packed full of end-to-end action, yet the score line remained deadlocked at 0-0 at the break.

The lively crowd continued to roar on both teams as the second half began, but it was the travelling support from East Kilbride who were celebrating after Calderglen took the lead just after the whistle.

Midfielder Ainsley Neil netted what proved to be the winning goal.

The game continued at a high tempo as both teams pressed forward. Selkirk had chances to draw level, and at the other end, Amy Anderson, Eilidh McGill, and Michaela Henderson made a number of key challenges to prevent Calderglen from building on their lead.

Irene Logan, Coach of Selkirk High School said, 'It was a close game and a massive achievement for the girls. They"re disappointed but also proud of their efforts. This is the first year that we entered an 11-a-side team and the girls did brilliantly, the game could have gone either way.

'Next year we will be entering a team into the senior league and hopefully we"ll make it back here.'
