GALA Hotspur finally earned the promotion place they deserved on Saturday when they came from twogoals down to win 3-2.

The wheels had came off the wagon lately with two defeats leaving them sweating over the final place.

It looked like it was going to be another disappointing day for the Spurs when the ref adjudged that goalkeeper Bell had carried the ball outside his box and Chirnside scored from the free kick with only one minute on the clock.

Both teams battled hard but half time arrived with no further scoring. In a repeat of the first half Chirnside scored within a minute of the restart to leave Spurs a mountain to climb.

Things looked even bleaker when Brown was given a red card for dissent. Mcgurn handed Spurs a lifeline with a deflected goal with 20 minutes left to play.

With time running out Nightingale pounced on a poor clearance and beat the keeper from 25 yards. Nightingale made sure of the points with two minutes left when he picked up the ball on the right, beat two defenders and rifled an unstoppable shot wide of the keeper.

The celebrations will need to be put on hold for a couple of weeks as they concentrate on the Sanderson cup final being played on May 16.
