YM had little time to warm up as their bus was half an hour late picking them up and it showed in the opening minutes as Queensferry used the advantage of playing down the slope to pin YM into their 22. There were several close calls on the YM line before the home side squeezed over for a try. The conversion missed as did two easy penalty attempts before YM began to exert some pressure of their own.

A brilliant break by Colin Campbell sent him racing through to the posts but the referee said he was held up over the line. He need not have worried however as from the five metre scrum, the ball went along the line for him to race over in the corner. Lyle Campbell converted from the touchline to put YM in front.

YM were controlling things now and a fine break by Duncan Miller and grubber kick to the line saw Queensferry give away a penalty.

Quick thinking by Kieron Bennett for the tap penalty saw him dive over and Lyle Campbell slotted the extras.

Queensferry kept in the match with two penalty goals although they never looked like creating a try as YM were tackling like demons.

Just before the break, a monstrous penalty attempt by Lyle Campbell from a yard inside his own half rebounded off the bar and the teams turned round at 11—14.

YM had the slope advantage now in the second half and the quickly increased their lead after giving Queensferry a torrid time desperately defending. Quick ball from a ruck and a cheeky dummy put Duncan Miller in under the bar and Lyle Campbell converted.

Queensferry replied with a third penalty goal.

YM were on the attack at every opportunity and Kevin Andison was over for a try, only to have it chalked off by the referee for something he had spotted off the ball.

Lyle Campbell increased the lead with a long range penalty but a fourth penalty by Queensferry closed the gap again.

YM went all out to finish the home side off and good handling with the wet ball sent Graham Dun away down the wing and he shrugged off two tackles to score at the flag. Lyle Campbell converted with a great kick from the touchline.

With the result in the bag YM easily dealt with anything the home side threw at them and counter attacked well. Constant pressure sent Duncan Miller round behind the posts for his second and YM’s fifth try. Gregor Mein converted to finish the game. Colin Campbell got the Man-of-the–Match for a great all round display. YM have a free week this Saturday and will meet Ross High in the East Bowl final away on November 22.
