It was a game of defences as YM dominated territory down the hill in the first half and Ross High in the second.

YM took an early lead after only two minutes with a penalty goal from Dean Keddie and he just narrowly missed with another attempt five minutes later.

Dean Keddie was containing the home side in their own half with good kicking, but good tackling by Ross High was also keeping YM at bay.

Ross High were rarely in the YM 22 and twice missed with penalty attempts.

The teams turned round with YM only 3—0 in front and that did not seem near enough with their heavy pack now playing downhill.

Ross High scored with an early penalty and from then on YM had to put the tackles in as they threw every thing at the visitors, helped on by the large home crowd.

Halfway through the second period YM lost Blair Reavely to the sin-bin and Ross High kicked to the corner from the penalty.

Time and again YM stopped them using the extra man but eventually the big pack crashed over for the vital try and the fine conversion put them seven points clear.

YM had a good spell initiated by a good break up field by Mark Ormiston and it was the home defence that had to fight hard to keep Gala out.

The defensive line held, however, and a penalty put Ross High back down field.

As time ticked away Ross High got a second and vital try in bizarre circumstances, from a break they kicked ahead and Graham Dun raced back as the ball crossed the line but as he dived to touch it down it suddenly bounced away at the last second and the kicker had an easy job to touch down for the try.

The conversion put the game beyond YM in the time that was left and the Bowl went to Ross High.

YM wish them well in the National Bowl.

Jamie Livingston was YM’s man–of-the-match this week.

YM have a free week next week as Moray House came out of the league.
