BEING the Gala Week, the Waverley Bowling Club 'A' team's "drlightbodypainters.co.uk" league match was changed to Monday evening away to Melrose.
This was a vital game in the season, as a win would have seen Waverley top the league.
However, this was not to be, and even though Waverley came close to catching up at one stage, the home team took full advantage of the conditions to record a fine win by 87 shots to 67 and open up a three points gap at the top of the league.
The Club must now rely on other teams if they hope to retain the First Division title.
There was no action for either the 'B' team or the ladies this week as both had a week off.
On Sunday, the club held the qualifying competition for next season's Scottish triples entry.
The final was won by D.Miller (jnr), R.Crawford, and R.T.Nicholson who defeated B.Blackwood, D.Wilson, and B.Kimber.
