Gala clinched their first Border League win of the season, at the third attempt, and also retained the Rae Nichol Memorial Trophy with a resounding 10 wicket victory over Selkirk at Meigle Park on Saturday.

Scott Paterson provided the ammunition with 5 wickets for 29 runs as Selkirk, having elected to bat first, were shot out for 64 inside 24 overs.

Both Paterson and Kris Mein took wickets in their opening overs to get the visitors on the back foot, and only Greg Fenton, Kenny Paterson and Neil Gentlemen reached double figures.

Stephen Halls and David Boland wasted no time in accumulating the required total in the eleventh over with Halls finishing on 21 and Boland, who ended the match with a six, on 39.
