THERE'S no excuse for youngsters across the Scottish Borders being bored during the summer holidays.

Scottish Borders Council has announced a jam-packed sports and physical activity programme.

Activities on offer include athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, SFA football, hockey, tennis, American football, hip-hop dance, cheerleading, judo, orienteering, surfing and a wide range of disability sports and "kidz clubs".

The programme is now available to download online and includes a balanced and cost effective range of sports and activities which run on various dates from 26 June - 16 August.

It also includes summer camps and roller blading at the Queens Leisure Centre in Galashiels and fun-filled swimming sessions at leisure centres across the region.

Councillor Graham Garvie, Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Community Learning, said: 'Being active and having fun is the perfect way for youngsters to spend their holidays. Once again, this year"s programme includes a wide range of activities and sports for youngsters to choose from.

"All staff running the courses are qualified and selected for their experience and enthusiasm when interacting with young people so there is no doubt that the youngsters involved will be guaranteed a good time.'

All youngsters across the region will receive a copy of the programme from their school this week.

For a copy of the programme or for more information, contact the holiday sports information hotline on 01896 759913 or email holidaysports@scotborders.gov.uk.

The programme is also available to download online at www.sportborders.org.uk and www.scotborders.gov.uk.
