A FUN run in memory of a Galashiels schoolboy is set to return next month following the success of the inaugural event last year.

The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust has confirmed the 2012 Meigle Hill Run and Junior Fun Run will start at Gala Cricket Club on Friday, April 27, at 6pm.

It is being organised in association with local running club, Gala Harriers. And everyone is invited to attend.

Last year more than 300 runners took part in the event which raised around £1000 for the Trust, which was set up in memory of Rowan who died while playing at Gala Cricket Club aged nine and helps other sports-mad youngsters achieve their goals.

Entry is priced £5 for the three mile Meigle Hill Run, which sets off at 7pm, and £2 for the Junior Fun Run which begins at 6pm. Family Entry is priced £10. Children under 13 can run the Meigle Run accompanied by an adult.

Registration opens at the Cricket Club at 5pm on the night. A social event will follow in the clubrooms afterwards.
