GALA progressed to the final of the Border T20 cup, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the competition with a 19 run win against Selkirk.

With Gala batting first, Stephen Halls and David Boland provided Gala a solid platform to build on, with the pair putting on 45 for the first wicket before Boland holed out to Jordan Reid at mid-off from the bowling of Davie Gardner. Halls followed soon after in the 12th over with the score on 57. Jack Halls then joined Josh Irvine at the crease and the pair put on a partnership of 67 from just 44 balls before Irvine was caught at long on by Reid just one short of a half century. Halls was then out on the penultimate ball of Gala’s innings as they posted a total of 138-4.

In reply, Selkirk started strongly with Rory Banks and John Everitt taking advantage of the gaps in the field with quick singles and keeping well up with the required run rate. The opening pair looked set to take the game right to the wire before Everitt, looking to accelerate, was caught and bowled by Jack Halls with the score on 87.

Banks however continued to put pressure on Gala as he was joined by Michael Fenton, passing 50 before he was caught a long on by Kris Mein trying to clear the boundary in the second last over. With Selkirk then needing 28 from 9 balls, Jack Halls picked up the wickets of Fenton, Reid and Gardner with the score on 111, claiming both a hat-trick and five wicket haul to end his four over spell. Kris Mein’s final over then went for only eight, ensuring Gala’s victory.
