GALA Rugby star Gregor Hunter is the latest to be called up to the Scotland squad for the next round of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Sydney.
On Monday he flew out to join Melrose trio Mark Robertson, Scott Wight and Nyle Godsmark and the squad, who are currently sitting in 4th place in the in the standings after a creditable display last weekend in Auckland where they finished in the bronze medal position.
The side managed to see off Canada 28-22 in the Bronze medal match in Auckland after they were defeated 19-12 by Fiji in the previous round.
Gala Rugby President Graham Low, described Hunter's call-up "a fantastic honour".
He told the Border Telegraph: "This is a fantastic honour for Gregor and Gala to get a call up to international rugby from club level, something that is very rare nowadays.
"I am delighted for Gregor and will be getting up through the night to watch the World Series Australian section to cheer on Gala RFC's stand off and Youth Development Officer."
Scotland are set to play Papa New Guinea on Saturday in their opening game in Sydney.
The other teams in the pool C are New Zealand and Australia.
