THE Bill McLaren Foundation has launched a Supporters' Club which all admirers and fans of the late Bill McLaren are invited to join.

The Club features four categories of membership - individuals, schools, rugby clubs and corporate companies - with suggested annual donations starting at £20.

Supporters' Club members will be sent a certificate, receive the Supporters' Club newsletter, be the first to hear of discoveries from The Bill McLaren Archive and be listed on the website.

Andy Irvine, one of the Foundation Directors, said: "We are asking all lovers of Rugby Union to join our Supporters' Club. The membership cost has been pitched purposefully low to allow everybody to be a member."

Linda Lawson, Bill's daughter, added: "My Dad would approve of this! Involvement and taking part were basic 'musts' for him. We hope lots of people agree, and join up."

The Supporters' Club will raise funds to fulfil the three aims of the Foundation:

> To develop and promote the sport of rugby union and its values;

> To encourage and provide sporting opportunities for young people;

> To create an educative centre, which will include the Bill McLaren Archive.
