CLUBS have kicked out plans to play the Border League pre-season.
Only the Haddington v. Gala match goes ahead next Saturday (August 14) as a warm-up to the league programme a week later.
League secretary John Thorburn said that it was the wishes of the clubs to delay the start despite the games being seen as the ideal preparation for the new season.
And local rugby journalist Stuart Cameron believes that the League has missed the opportunity for change.
Peebles will not open their campaign until December 11 when Hawick visit The Gytes.
