ZINZAN Brooke and Kenny Logan will top the bill of sporting greats of the past and present who will be sharing their experiences and thoughts on the impending Rugby World Cup.

The drinks reception and dinner will take place in aid of the Bill McLaren Foundation at London's Caledonian Club, the private members' club in Belgravia known as "a little piece of Scotland in London", on Thursday, September 8.

Linda Lawson, Bill's daughter said: "Dad had very fond memories of commentating on the first World Cup in New Zealand in 1987 and was hugely impressed by the passion for rugby in that country. He would be delighted that the Bill McLaren Foundation will mark the start of this year's event with a dinner among rugby legends in the intimate setting of the Caledonian Club. It should be a night to remember." Players will also be sharing their stories of Bill, such as this anecdote from Kenny Logan: "I was always known as 'Kenneth' Logan and Bill changed it to Kenny. I have to thank him for that as I never really liked 'Kenneth'. Bill hasn't just left an impact on my life but probably on every other rugby players' life too. His commentary was always engaging and made even the non-rugby fan feel as if they knew all about the sport." Rugby greats scheduled to attend include Hugo Southwell & Gavin Kerr (Scotland), Nicky Robinson (Wales) and England and Lions legends Roger Utley and Chris Ralston. Tables of 10 are available priced £1500 or a 'Players' Table with nine guests and a rugby legend are available priced £1750.

The Bill McLaren Foundation was set up to celebrate the life, achievements and values of Bill McLaren. The Foundation was launched in March 2010 with three main aims: To develop and promote the sport of rugby union and its values ;to encourage and provide sporting opportunities for young people; and to create an educative centre which will include the Bill McLaren Archive.
