Mighty Mouse heads for the Borders
THE well-established Scottish Rugby President's roadshows begin in the Borders tonight (Wednesday, November 9).
SRU President Ian "Mighty Mouse" McLauchlan will be joined by senior management when the round-country event begins at Philiphaugh, home of Selkirk.
McLauchlan said: "As President I believe it's important that I visit the rugby community around the country and hear about their successes and the challenges they face.
"Invariably this involves weekend matches but the great thing about the roadshows is I'm there with the senior executive team from Murrayfield and that every member club and referees' society in the area has the opportunity to come along, meet us, hear an update on the business and ask about any topics of interest. That way we can catch up with many more clubs directly than when we visit one match at a weekend."
The President will be joined by Scottish Rugby's Chief Executive, Mark Dodson; Scottish Rugby Board Chairman, Sir Moir Lockhead; Head of Community Rugby, Colin Thomson; and Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Dominic McKay.
John Davidson (Jed-Forest) P2 representative on the Scottish Rugby Council and a member of the Scottish Rugby Board said: "This gathering is of great benefit for the clubs but it's also of tremendous assistance to our management team as they hear first hand of all the practical elements from the club rugby frontline.
"I encourage all clubs to make sure that they send along two representatives to the meeting."
Wednesday's roadshow begins at 6.30pm for 7pm.
It will be the same start times for the other roadshows which take place as follows:
Monday 14 November - Aberdeen Grammar Rugby clubhouse, 86 Queen's Road, Aberdeen
Monday 21 November - GHK clubrooms, Old Anniesland, Crow Road, Glasgow
Wednesday 23 November - Heriot's RC, Goldenacre, Edinburgh
