EXPERIENCED back row Roddy Grant will lead the Edinburgh A team on Monday (22 September) in their inter-city fixture with their Glasgow Warriors counterparts.

The fixture, at Stirling County's Bridgehaugh Park (kick-off 5pm, entry free), is an opportunity for some of Edinburgh's Elite Development Players (EDPs), those identified through the BT Premiership draft clubs and players returning from injury to show what they can do at this level.

The team reflects the vision of Edinburgh Rugby to build a sustainable club through our young Scottish players.

The forward pack features EDP prop Rory Sutherland, who has already seen first team action, alongside Boroughmuir HS former pupil, Scotland age-grade captain and full time professional Neil Cochrane at hooker, and recent signing, Simon Berghan, whose grandfather came from Stirling.

First team twins Alex and Ben Toolis are at lock, with summer-time school leaver turned professional Jamie Ritchie and captain Grant at flanker and EDP Magnus Bradbury completing the back row at no 8.

Former Scotland 7s now EDP Alex Glashan takes on scrum half duties while Scotland under-18 now EDP Ruairi Howarth is at stand-off. Summer signing Brett Thompson is on the right wing while former Scotland 7s now full-time professional Chris Dean and Joaquin Dominguez, with ten caps for Edinburgh, partner at outside and inside centre respectively. Former Scotland age grade international centre now EDP, Chris Auld, is selected for the full back berth.

Scotland under-18 now EDP forwards Jake Kerr and Ally Miller are joined on the bench by Edinburgh Accies try machine and Scotland under-20 international Sam Pecqueur, Borders-born EDP Ewan McQuillin, Melrose utility back Austin Lockington and full time professionals Alan Dell, Wicus Blaauw, Ollie Atkins and Grayson Hart.

Edinburgh Rugby head coach Alan Solomons said: "This is a great opportunity for the players to show what they can do. We have lots of young Scottish-qualified players involved in the team, in line with our aim to build our club through our promising junior talent."
