“Teams will be targeting us, there’s absolutely no doubt about it,” Peter told the selkirkrfc.com website, “and that’s the nature of success.

“All of a sudden yours is the scalp everyone wants to collect, so our boys need to know life is only going to get harder in the weeks and months ahead.

“That said, if we keep playing with the kind of conviction and self-belief we’ve shown these past nine weeks, then I’m confident the team will get the right results and continue to make progress.

“One of the things that’s pleased me most about our play this year has been the improvement in everybody’s communication.

“For example, Callum McColm is now much more vocal out on the field, and this is what happens when you begin to play with more confidence.

“The skill set of our players is a credit to all those people who, over the years, have helped them make it through to senior level – from the minis, schools and Selkirk Youth Club up to when they joined the senior ranks at Philiphaugh.

“Their ability to handle and keep the ball alive is impressive by any yardstick, and it’s these standards we need to keep improving and working on if we’re going to continue this run of wins.”
