The bus journey seemed too take it’s toll on the young Gala lads and before even 10 minutes had been played Gala where down 10-0.

However, eventually the bus journey was worn out of the legs and played some great rugby too allow Jack Easson to score the first of three tries.

Steven Patterson then scored in the corner after some hard graft from the forwards created the space out wide. Conversion missed.

Back came Dundee and they scored two quick fire tries too stretch their lead too 24-10.

Easson then got his second on the stroke of half time with a great line out move that was straight from the training field. Robbie Irvine missed the conversion and it was 24-15 to Dundee at the interval.

The second half was very much all the GRT. With the wind behind them John Turnbull controlled the match from 10 and put Dundee under pressure with some accurate kicking.

Gala got the first points of the half with some great handling from Alexander Selkirk that allowed Turnbull too sprint in for the next try. Robbie Irvine this time spot on with the conversion from the touch line.

Dundee then went on the attack and scores a try in the corner thanks too a quick tap penalty. Conversion missed.

With the home side leading 29-22 with 15 minutes remaining, the GRT went on the attac. Time and time again forcing Dundee into mistakes and forcing their way into the oppositions 22 only to knock the ball on or be penalised.

Eventually though with 10 minutes to go they got their reward. The Dundee stand-off was given a yellow card for a dangerously high tackle. From the resulting penalty Gala took a tap penalty and, after a great drive from Lewis Collison, Easson had a simple flop over the line from about two feet.

Robbie Irvine added the extras to tie the scores at 29 a-piece.

From their both teams pushed for the winning try but the defences stood firm.

The full time whistle went and the GRT moved on to the semi finals winning the match by scoring more tries than the opposition. A great team performance against a very tough Dundee team.

The Triangle now play Hamilton at Netherdale on Sunday, kick-off 12noon.
