GALA came out on top in the P6 & P7 age group at the ProStrakan Mini Maroons Tournament at Netherdale on Sunday.

All the Gala teams did very well on another great afternoon of rugby and are a credit to their coaches and parents as were all of the visiting teams.

Meanwhile, Melrose won the P3 and P5 age group, Peebles won the P4 age group.

Ian Millar, Gala Rugby Club’s development officer, said: “A big thank you is due to Andrew Mclean and ProStrakan for their continuing support of what has, according to visiting teams, become one of the biggest and best Mini Tournaments, not just in the Borders, but in Scotland. “Thanks to all the coaches, helpers, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. for their hard work and support, especially Mike Niven, Minis Convenor, and Karen Johnston for all their tireless work not just for the Tournament but during the course of the season.

“Huge thanks also go to our four game coaches/referees without whose time and effort yesterday over 400 budding rugby players would not have had the chance to play. Well done again to all involved win or lose it was still a great day down Netherdale way.” The Mini Maroons are now finished for the season but watch out for the many fun activities that will be on during the summer months.
