SUPER League giants Wigan Warriors are coming to Galashiels later this month.

And they are inviting budding rugby league players to come and join them.

Scotland’s national coach Steve McCormack is amongst the backroom team at Wigan.

He brought his Bravehearts to Netherdale last year to face France in the European Cup. And he, along with his Wigan Warrior colleagues, will be holding a two-day junior training camp for all S1 to S4 pupils at the home of Gala RFC on July 30 and 31.

Wigan will also host a coaching masterclass on Thursday, July 30 from 6.30pm for any local coaches who want to learn from the 13-man code’s leading practitioners.

A spokesman for Wigan Warriors said: “Last year Scotland brought international Rugby League to the Borders for the first time when they played France in the European Championship, an event widely considered a great success by organisers.

“For both events, Wigan Warriors, Scotland and Gala welcome players and coaches from both codes.” A further announcement on future rugby league events at Netherdale is expected later this week. To book a place on the training camp or the masterclass call 0871 66 33 552 or visit wiganwarriors.com
