WITH Harestanes Visitor Centre enjoying one of its busiest seasons of the past 15 years, a new event has been added to a packed August programme.

Working with neighbouring craft businesses, the visitor centre will host its first Craft Fair on Sunday, August 8.

Harestanes has seen a remarkable rise in popularity over the past two years, with visitor numbers for 2010 set to exceed the exceptional figures recorded last year.

Assistant Angie Forman said: "With hands-on craft activities, batik workshops, greenwood demonstrations and quality hand-made gifts from local craft designers, it will be a great event for all the family. We hope to establish the craft fair as an annual event and do our bit to support local businesses."

Admission to the craft fair and to the visitor centre is free. The fair will take place from 12 noon to 4pm.

Harestanes, near Ancrum, Jedburgh, is part of Scottish Borders Council's Community Services section. The centre holds a Gold Award for Green Tourism and is a VisitScotland 4-star attraction.
