GALASHIELS singer-songwriter Craig Jeffrey will support chart-toppers The Feeling at one of the country's biggest music festivals later this year.
The 24-year-old Don't Blow Away star has been named on the bill alongside the five-piece BRIT award-nominated pop rock band at The Grand Hall in Kilmarnock on Sunday, September 5.
He was invited to support the headliners after receiving rave reviews for his performance at the event last year.
Basshunter, the world's biggest commercial dance act, and former Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader are also due to headline the Kilmarnock Edition Festival, which runs from September 3 to 5.
And former Borders Got Talent winner Naomi Chapman, from Stow, has been booked to perform on the free stage at Dean Castle during the weekend.
Speaking to the Border Telegraph this week, Craig, who was first propelled into the spotlight after winning a radio competition to support Scottish singer Paolo Nutini at a Rock Against Racism gig in Kelso in 2006, said: "It's going to be awesome.
"I have played in Kilmarnock before with the Donnie Munro Band and I performed on a smaller stage at the festival last year so it's a great compliment to be asked to go back to support one of the headline acts.
"They had quite a few hits in the charts a couple of years ago and they are back with some new material so it will be great to watch them play live."
The Feeling, who are best known for velcro-catchy hit singles 'Sewn', 'Fill My Little World', 'Never Be Lonely' and 'Love It When You Call', sold over a million copies of their critically-acclaimed debut album, 'Twelve Stops And Home', and are preparing to release their third album this year.
Craig, who has already performed at the Wizard Music Festival in Aberdeenshire and Wickerman Music Festival in Dumfries and Galloway, said: "I love playing at festivals. Before I started playing music I never really went to gigs but now, having performed up and down the country promoting my CD, it's opened my eyes - everyone is there for the music and there is a really good buzz and energy about the place."
It is an exciting time for the former cleaner who played at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow last weekend. The concert venue is renowned in Scotland as an exciting showcase for new and emerging bands and created a piece of rock and roll history as the venue where Oasis were first spotted and signed in 1993.
Craig, who won the Best Newcomer Award at the city's Celtic Connections music festival last year, helped launch the world's largest arts festival - the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - with a solo accoustic set at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens on Saturday.
And later he will support Scottish folk super-group Capercaillie at the Innerleithen Music Festival at a concert on Saturday, August 21 - which has already sold-out.
Craig, whose music has also been featured on ITV soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street, said: "It's been a massive year."
But he added: "Having been in the studio recording some new songs, I'm really looking forward to getting out and performing in front of a live audience again - some of whom might not have heard my music before."
