TWO of TV's biggest stars are set to perform a cheeky show in the Borders this week.

Twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia, otherwise known as pop duo the Cheeky Girls, will sing at Move Music Venue in Galashiels on Thursday, September 8.

They shot to fame after appearing as auditionees in ITV1 show Popstars: The Rivals and had success in the charts with four top ten hits between 2002 and 2004.

The 29-year-old Romanian duo are best known for their debut single, "Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)", which reached number two in the charts and sold more than 1.2 million copies worldwide.

Entry to the gig is priced £5 and doors open at 10pm.

The event has been organised to celebrate Freshers Week at Heriot Watt University. However, once again, the doors will be thrown open to revellers across the region.

Last year, Merveille Lukeba and Kathryn Prescott from hit E4 show Skins packed out Move with a special DJ set specially for the students, who have also welcomed chart-toppers Booty Luv and the lads from S Club Seven to the Borders in recent years.

Other highlights of the Freshers Week include the Skool Disco at Move on Tuesday, September 6, and a Rockness theme night at the same venue on Friday, September 9, both starting at 10pm.

Heriot-Watt University's campus in Galashiels is home to the School of Textiles and Design and the Borders Business Programme and attracts hundreds of students from around the world to the Borders each year.
