AROUND 80 young musicians from across the Borders will come together for a concert in the region next week.

The Scottish Borders Wind Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Guitar Ensemble will perform in Melrose Parish Church on Monday, March 17, at 7.30pm. The three ensembles are made up of pupils from all of the region’s high schools. Their programme will include music by Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven, Scottish and Irish folk music and hits from the film “The Blues Brothers”.

The concert follows a weekend of rehearsals at Broomlee Centre, near West Linton. In June, following a further concert in Galashiels, the young musicians embark on a concert tour of Germany and will perform to audiences in Cologne, Bernkastel-Kues and Boppard.
