ANCRUM is set to get colourful during May’s Bank Holiday weekend.

After last year’s successful inaugural Art @ Ancrum event when, when there were 16 exhibitors and over 500 visitors, the event will be repeated this year.

A long weekend of exhibitions and the odd demonstration by 26 invited professional artists and craft makers are set to take place in 12 venues throughout the village.

Venues range from the Village Hall, Ancrum Pantry, Cross Keys, artists’ studios, stonecarvers’ workshops and people’s houses.

You can see the work, chat to artists, and support the wealth of local creative talent, which includes paintings, photography, wood, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture and textiles.

As well as all the professional artists and craft makers, there is also going to be an exhibition of work by pupils of the Ancrum Primary School.

This will be in the meeting room at the Village Hall over the weekend, and is sponsored by Art @ Ancrum.

There is a further exhibition in the The Cross Keys, Ancrum of a selection of work by various artists who are not taking part in the event itself, but who are rated highly.

This year’s Art @ Ancrum event will take place from Saturday, May 3 until Monday, May 5. More details can be found on www.artatancrum.org.uk
