BOWHILL House and Country Estate promises a month packed with activities and events for all the family this June.

The action begins on Friday, June 6, at 1.30pm with the first of two woodland storytelling activities.

Children can visit the Estate, near Selkirk, for a story in the woods entitled 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark,’ followed by some woodland crafts.

The second of these takes place on Friday, June 20 with a reading of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ Places at both events cost £2 per person, which is payable at the Estate shop.

Wednesday, June 11 sees Bowhill’s second Talk & Walk series of 2014 come to the Estate. Visitors can enjoy a guided walk around the Estate grounds with a chance to see some of the wildlife which has made their home at Bowhill.

Tickets for the event are priced at £8 per person.

On June 21 and 22, take a trip back in time with The Great Upheaval to discover how and why Bowhill became the main family residence instead of Dalkeith Palace 100 years ago. Prices to join The Great Upheaval are £10 per adult.

Finally, to round off the month, Bowhill is calling all green fingered gardeners out there to take part in the Horticultural Homecoming event on June 25 and 29, from 2pm to 4pm.

Visitors can join a guided short walk around the Estate and learn about the different use of native plants followed by a workshop to encourage all keen gardeners to grow some native species in their own garden. Places cost £8 per person.

Helen Currie, House and Events Manager for Bowhill, said: “Thankfully summer is now almost upon us and we have some great events planned for June to help people make the most of any sunshine that comes our way.

“Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the spectacular surroundings at Bowhill.” Pre-booking is essential to secure your spot, with limited spaces available.
