MELROSE Pipe Band Championships return to the Borders this weekend.
St Boswells Concert Band will open the show at St Mary’s School on Saturday, August 2, at 10am.
There will also be performances from Melrose and Jedburgh Pipe Band, Riddell Fiddles and Langlee Community Choir before the Street Parade at 5.15pm.
And everyone is invited.
The first Pipe Band Championships was held in 1994. Since then it has grown each year to become one of the major events in Melrose.
For many years it was organised by a small committee of friends and family led by Ian Graham. In 2012 that committee felt it was time to hand over to someone else and have a well earned rest.
Last year, the Rotary Club of Melrose, with guidance from Ian, took over the organisation of the event and had a successful day.
This year, as well as all the music on offer, there will be other attractions such as trade and craft stalls, a small children’s fairground and food and drink, as well as a demonstration of Irish dancing.
