Right Angle Theatre Company celebrates 21st birthday
THE Right Angle Theatre Company were given their very own entertainment key to the door on Friday as the thespians celebrated their 21st birthday.
Susan Shearer, who has been involved in the company since the very beginning is now President and Producer. She said: "This year, our 21st anniversary, has been a very busy time for RATC and very tiring. We have been constantly in rehearsal since last September with the panto Cinderella, cabaret 'Forbidden', then on to Nunsense and full circle back to this year's panto!"
Susan thanked the production team and participants who took part in these productions. "The feedback from the audiences has been extremely encouraging and our local paper has been very generous and given us fabulous reviews."
She also explained that it was Bill Harvey who came into her fancy dress shop 21 years ago to ask if she would take part in a new musical play he was working on.
This play was 'Nunsense' and although Susan had to be persuaded as acting had been her forte up to this point and singing was something "that she just didn't do", she got involved and never looked back.
For over two decades this company has produced cabarets and pantomimes and is open to all ages - a Junior Group (under 12), Youth Group (under 16) and the adults.
This year's pantomime will be Robinson Crusoe, which will jog memories as it was the first panto ever performed by the Dramatics Group back in 1991.
