Bright sparks at Glendinning
BRIGHT children at a primary school in Galashiels came up with a unique way to highlight the importance of staying safe in the dark.
The Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO) for Glendinning Primary - Joris Caldow and Milly Brooks - organised a wear bright clothes to school day to remind the pupils how important it is to be seen when out and about on darker mornings and at night.
All the pupils and staff entered into the spirit of the day by wearing many varieties of eye-catching colours.
The person wearing the brightest outfit in each class was presented a prize at assembly by the JRSO's. And the winners were as follows: Primary 1/2: Preston Ross; Primary 3/4/5: Laura Frizzel; and P6/7: Alistair Robinson.
The school also held a Green Feet Forward Competition which will be held monthly. Points are awarded to each pupil for walking to school and the class with the most points was Primary 3/4/5 who were awarded with the Big Green Foot.
All the children were given stickers for taking part. Each child brought in a 50p donation and the school raised £40. Well done to the JRSO's for organising a fun day for all and highlighting how important it is to Be Safe Be Seen.
